Course Reserve is best used when you are uncertain of the
exact title of the item a lecturer has asked you to read,
or when you want a list of all the items for a particular
course.
The drop down menu boxes allow you to choose from the following
categories: (see using
drop-down boxes)
-
Lecturer
-
Either the course coordinator or the lecturer who requested
that the item be put on Reserve
-
School
-
The school or centre in which the course is taught
-
Course
-
The course code and course title - look at your reading
list or handouts if you are unsure
-
Session
-
The session this item is placed into Course Reserve.
The item may also be on permanent Course Reserve if required
for the full year.
Select from as many boxes as you wish; however only one
selection can be made per box.
If your search finds nothing, retry using fewer choices.
For example if you filled in both Course and Session,
do the search again with only a Subject code selected.
Tips:
- Course Reserve search ignores all Limits
- Course is usually the most helpful box to choose.
- When you display the list of titles,
- Journal articles may be available in full text if
the call number is online article. You will
be able to view the full text by selecting Linked
Resources.
- Chapters from books or entire books may also be
available if the call number is digital object.
You will be able to view the full text by selecting
Linked Resources.
- Books will also be displayed and will be physically
located in the course reserve area behind Client Services
Desk on the ground floor.
- There will be some items on your reading list that are
not found by a Course Reserve search. You will need to
search for these items using either the Simple
or Guided search options.
